How much is dinner money and snack money and how is it paid?
Dinner at Kelford is £2.05 per day (£10.25 per week) which is to be paid every Monday. Class snack is dependant on which department your child is in. For Primary it's 50p per week and Secondary is £1. Money should be sent in to school in a sealed envelope or purse with the pupils name on.
What do I do if my child is poorly?
If your child is poorly and will not be attending school then you will need to contact Corporate Transport on 01709 334324 and inform them that your child will not be in school and contact school reception on 01709 512088 as soon as possible so we can inform classes. Please don't send messages with transport as it may not get to the right person or we may require more information. Keep the school informed during your child's illness with regular contact so we know any changes in the situation.
If your child is not in school and we haven't been informed then we will contact you to check everything is ok and to get information about where the pupil is.

We would encourage appointments to be made outside of the school timetable but we understand this may be unavoidable. If this is the case then you need to give the school prior notice so we are aware that the your child will not be in school. Ideally we would request for you to send in a copy of an appointment letter or card to verify the appointment.

How do I request leave for my child in term time?
If you want to request to take your child out of school in term time e.g. for a holiday, then we would ask you to complete the form below and return it to school at least 4 weeks before the first date of leave. Please be aware that the school are unable to authorise this type of absence unless there are exceptional circumstances.

My child has swimming at school, what do I need to provide?
You will need to provide a swimming costume or trunks, rubber pants, which are available from school for a small fee, or, ‘swimmers’ and a large towel that has your child's name on. These will be sent home each week for washing and should be returned to school on the first day of the following week.

What do I do if my child has medication that needs to be taken at school?
The medicine needs to be sent in in the original packaging, clearly labeled with your child's name and dosage instructions. If there is no label on the medication then we will not be able to administer it. If this is regular medication or rescue medication it will be sent home once it has expired and new, in date, medication requested.

What should I do if I want my child to attend Kelford School?
We would encourage you to visit the school as well as other schools in the area so that you are able to make an informed choice. If you think that Kelford School would be right for your child, you will need to contact your Local Authority to inform them of your decision. We are not able to admit pupils to the school with out agreement from Rotherham Local Authority and we also need agreement from the Local Authority who publish the Statement or Education and Health Care Plan (EHCP) as all pupils at Kelford need to have one of these.

If you would like to visit the school then contact the office on 01709 512088 and ask for Katherine Richardson or Tim Southwell who work in the Partnership Team. They will be more than happy to help to arrange a suitable time with you to visit and will show you round the school.

What will happen if the school is closed due to adverse weather?
All efforts will be made to try to keep the school open during adverse weather but if we feel it is unsafe for pupils to attend then we will inform parents via our texting service, post on the school's facebook page and we will also let local radio stations, Rother FM and Hallam FM, know.
If the decision is made to close while pupils are in school then again families will be informed via the texting service and Facebook and transport will be contacted to come and collect the students.
